Camouflage patterns (Camo), are generally used for the disguising personnel and equipment. 3 of the main camo patterns that you’ll find on our website are Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP), Disruptive Pattern Material (DPM) and British Terrain Pattern (BTP).
Disruptive Pattern Material (DPM) is the widely used name of the camouflage pattern used by the British Armed Forces as well as loads of other armed forces worldwide, but particularly in former British colonies. The DPM pattern was in service from 1960–2016, and was used in places such as Iraq and South Africa. The main variants of DPM are a four-color woodland pattern, and desert patterns in two, three or four colors.
The Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP), is the current and standard camouflage pattern of the British Armed Forces using lighter colors than DPM with a new three-color desert pattern with enhanced utility for night-time operations and a hybrid four-color scheme. It has been in service from March 2010 onwards and has been used in places such as Afghanistan.
British Terrain Pattern (BTP) is a variation of MTP that uses more green colors than brown. BTP is special because it isn’t widely used in the actual military and is mostly a camo pattern used in clothing items and prop equipment. BTP is more of a fashion statement if anything!
